Would you pay $17 a month for Instagram and Facebook?

You'd pay nearly $14 a month to Instagram on your phones without ads? How about almost $17 a month for Instagram and Facebook combined - αλλά σε επιτραπέζιους υπολογιστές; facebook money

These are the amounts Meta wants to charge Europeans for monthly if they don't agree to let the company target consumers with ads; according to a proposal the company made in recent weeks to regulators.

The proposal is a play by Meta on European Union rules that threaten to limit its ability to show users personalized ads without first seeking user consent, which would jeopardize its main source of revenue.

Meta officials outlined the plan at meetings in September with privacy regulators in Ireland and digital competition regulators in Brussels.

The plan has also been shared with other EU privacy regulators.

It would give users a choice between continuing to have free on Instagram and Facebook with personalized ads or pay for ad-free versions of the services, people familiar with the proposal said.
