German programmer Christopher Bachner claims that the software LG απενεργοποιεί το User Account Control (UAC), putting Windows at risk of malware.
User Account Control was first seen with the unnamed Windows Vista and since then it has been available in all newer platforms of Microsoft. The UAC increases security, limiting applications from having access to user privileges, unless of course the administrator allows it.
Επίσης δεν μπορεί να γίνει καμιά αλλαγή από μια installation on your computer".
Bachner says this protection is silently disconnected from LG software in an attempt to make the user experience smoother.
"This is extremely dangerous, as applications that should not run with administrator privileges run with administrator privileges. For example, my browser ran every time with full administrator privileges. " he says Bachner.
"I was angry because I would expect more from such a big company."
"The only solution to this is to uninstall the LG software and re-enable UAC."
Disabling UAC affects all home users. System administrators, of course, have other ways to limit access to administrator accounts, because immediate Windows approval can be the final step in preventing malware.
But inexperienced users are at risk because with UAC disabled, malware writers are literally doing partying on their computers.
