Canonical's Brian Murray published recently a timetable for the upcoming release of the Ubuntu 22.04 LTS operating system.
While Canonical continues to prepare for the upcoming release of Ubuntu 21.10 (Impish Indri) which will be available on October 14, 2021, it is also planning the next Ubuntu 22.04.
Ubuntu 22.04 will not be a commonplace version.
The Ubuntu 22.04 LTS release schedule shows the stage Feature Freeze is set for February 24, along with the Debian Import Freeze, while the Kernel Freeze and Final Freeze stages are scheduled for April 7 and 14 respectively.
After six months of development-work, the final version will be released on April 21, 2022.
Of course, it is too early to know the news characteristics of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, but as a long-term supported version, Canonical will choose the most tested packages for more stability and reliability.
