"The Department of Defense is looking at ways we can use AI and inearning machines to increase our defenses," White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough said in an online chat on automation.
The chat was attended by businessman and writer Robin Chase, as well as writer and futurist Martin Ford.
At the same time, McDonough said the government wants to ensure that there is adequate human interaction in any kind of artificial intelligence arsenal.
"The United States aims to be the world leader in establishing a code of conduct and in a number of perspectives," he continued.
Returning to a previous section of the online discussion on the economic implications of automation, Chase argued that “income inequality will pose a greater security threat than this technology. It's already a huge issue, and if automation makes things worse, it will become even more acute. ”
Both Chase and Ford during the debate endorsed the idea of a universal income to offset seat losses work due to automation and higher productivity.
Earlier in the conversation, Ford reported on McDonough's statements that mechanical learning and AI can be used to detect and defend online cyber-attack systems.
"In areas like security, I think it will be necessary," Ford said of artificial intelligence.
