A few months ago, GoPro had announced that it would launch its own camera drone around the first half of 2016. And while there was little detail about quadcopter specifications, features and design, GoPro published a video teaser yesterday to showcase the quality of its machine.
The video was “recorded with a prototype quadcopter under development and a stabilization system pictures" says in the comments of the video GoPro. "There is no stabilization in the studio, this is an example of the incredible quality image which is already able to capture this advanced prototype”.
From the description of the 1440p video, we see that the video was recorded with a GoPro HERO4 camera mounted on the drone. The drone seems to do a pretty good job of keeping the fixed camera flying in the air.
The release of this video coincides with GoPro's quarterly announcement, which disappointed investors. The international income tripled, but sales in America fell 7%. Both revenue and net income missed expectations ($400M vs. $433.6M and 13 cents per share vs. 29 cents), sending shares plummeting more than 16%.
