The hoax with "our bad weather"

All of us in the last few days have read or told us that: "the coldest winter of the last decade has come". But the news is another hoax, commonly lie.weather hoax hoax hoax hoax hoax

This time it was easy to reveal the prank-fraud: "that the coldest winter of the last decade is coming," since 2013 (which is also being counted as fake) was used as the main argument.

But it is almost certain that similar references will not be missed in the future for the following summer, for the next winter, for Easter etc .... And that's because:

  • The dia it allows anyone to post whatever they want. He can either simply state his opinion, or even refer vaguely to "meteorologists say", "German meteorologists predict", "scientists found" etc. …
  • Then and as everyone wants to update - at the same time increasing their traffic with what this entails - and with the ease of , the "news" very quickly makes the rounds of the internet.

The end result is that one does not know the original source of the news, that someone can not give some responsibility and of course simply create an impression that can hardly be changed.

And of course this is happening in other countries as well.

Beyond the specific responsibility of the website managers who must check the reliability of the source. (we were impressed that this time almost all the big news portal copied the alleged news) there is also the personal responsibility of everyone for what and from where they read it.

And of course everyone is responsible. When even serious portals are reposting fake rumors or speculation, it is not unreasonable for news to reach abroad. In a similar case for early May news (a period when many foreigners decide on their holidays) - that "this summer in Greece will be very hot" I received a call from the French News Agency. Does anyone wonder what damage such spreads can cause even in tourism?

A fellow meteorologist from Slovenia told me that because they had similar cases in his country, with "weather terrorist" announcements from invalid sources such as "Attention! "Tomorrow the city will be flooded" was passed a few years ago a strict law on weather forecasts in the media.

Very interesting and true is the relative article of friend Nikos Ghika in

 http://www.cyclogenesis.gr/  για τις εποχικές προγνώσεις

from the introduction of his article:

Finally, is there an invisible scientific / research team that makes long-term weather forecasts? What is the connection with the Delphi oracle? What is its relationship with traditional mermaids and what is the success rate?

and do we copy-paste

Among other things, the British Meteorological Service wrote almost before 2 years (November 2012) when there were "news" about that "Comes the coolest winter of the last 100 years"

http://metofficenews.wordpress.com/2012/11/17/responding-to-more-winter-weather-headlines/

Finally, as we head into winter, it's entirely possible that we'll see the full range of winter weather over the coming months, such as and low temperatures, but also heavy rainfall, stormy but also mild weather.
