Voice messages have been a key feature of WhatsApp for years. And so are voice along with video calls. Find what's missing. Video messages are missing. They were missing, that is, until today.
WhatsApp finally supports sending and receiving video messages. Videos can be up to 60 seconds long and are protected with WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption.
Sending a video message is similar to how sending a voice message works. You can tap on the icon you used to use for voice messages before and it will take you to the video message mode. Then you just hold it and do the video recording just like with voicemails. When you let go the message is sent. You can also swipe up to lock and record video without having to hold down the button – again, just like voicemails.
Videos are automatically muted when opened in a chat, and tapping on a video while it's playing will unmute it. Video messages are already rolling out and will be available to all WhatsApp users "in the coming weeks."
