The applications WhatsApp και Snapchat έχουν ήδη προβλήματα σε πολλές χώρες, γιατί θεωρούνται βασικά εργαλεία για την επικοινωνία μεταξύ τρομοκρατών.
These instant response serviceschangeof messages send encrypted messages that cannot be read by what? security authorities (see NSA) and so governments are usually very hostile to them.
So, the United Kingdom, has decided to move forward with controversial new legislation aimed at apps like WhatsApp.
According to Express.co.uk, WhatsApp, iMessage, and other popular messaging services may be banned in the UK because they encrypt their users' messages!
In the coming weeks, UK Prime Minister David Cameron will bring the Surveillance Bill to Parliament and if it passes, then the three messaging services mentioned earlier will be banned in the UK.
"Do we want to allow our country a means of communication that we cannot read?" David Cameron said earlier this year.
"My answer to this question is: No, we do not want to." (Mr. David Cameron answers on his own)
If WhatsApp, Snapchat and iMessage applications are banned in the UK, it will certainly be a very bad example for other European countries, which might be tempted to try to do the same.
There will probably be a reaction from application users when the new legislation is announced, but then it will probably not matter to politicians.
