Windows 10 version 1809 error causes delays

Devices running Windows 10 version 1809 may take an extended period of time (up to 60 seconds) to shut down or suspend due to a new error.

Her employee Phillip Froese confirmed the error on the Microsoft Tech Community website.

Windows 10

The issue affects devices that have USB Type-C devices connected, e.g. docks, chargers or mobile devices.

Froese reported that the issue can cause a 60-second delay when the system shuts down or enters sleep mode when USB Type-C devices are present in the running Windows 10.

Microsoft has detected the error in the USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface software. Occurs when the USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface tries to manage new connection or disconnection events when the computer starts or enters sleep mode.

An error in the implementation of the USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface software (UCSI) in Windows 10 version 1809 can cause a 60-second delay in the sleep process or system shutdown if it occurs while the UCSI software is busy with someone new connection or disconnection event on the USB Type-C port.

The issue does not affect the functionality of the USB Type-C port on the device. The system and ports continue to operate normally at the next system boot.

Except for an extra minute in sleep mode or system shutdown, this error does not affect the normal functionality of USB Type-C on your machine. The system and USB Type-C ports will work properly after the next system restart.

The issue has not yet been added to the list of known issues with this version of Windows 10.

Froese did not disclose when Microsoft plans to fix this issue.
