If you were expecting a preview of Windows 21 version 1H10 but wanted to get a clean install, today is your day.
Microsoft today released ISOs of Windows 10 Insider Preview build 19043, as this is the build that is in channel Beta.
The “preview” of Windows 10 version 21H1 is essentially one packet enabling a feature update that brings new features. But with the exception of the activation pack, Windows 10 version 21H1 is exactly the same bits as the two previous versions 20H2 and 2004.
In fact, every ring, Insider and production, is using the exact same build right now, containing its latest update Patch Tuesday. The activation pack somehow converts older versions to Windows 10 version 21H1.
As for what's actually new in the update, there's not much to say. Includes media support for the Windows Hello, so you can set a default IR camera. There are Windows Defender Application Guard improvements and improvements to the Windows Management Instrument Group Policy service.
As for why it's such a small update, Microsoft blamed COVID, stating that many of the developers are still working from home.
Anyway, if you want to do a clean install of Windows 10 in version 21H1, you can download ISO from here. New preview versions (build 20308) of Windows Server, Windows SDK, Windows WDK, and Windows EWDK are also available.
