As with all major Windows 10 updates, some of the features have been removed or are waiting to be removed in an upcoming release.
The items removed in the October 2018 update will not affect users much, but some companies will probably pay for it. Note that in the upcoming changes there is no major, such as the removal of the feature homegroup brought the Windows 10 April 2018 Update
The following is a list of them possibilities removed in the new version:
Mode | Alternative |
Business Scanning, or Distributed Scan Management | none |
FontSmoothing in unattend.xml | Windows 10 uses ClearType by default |
Hologram app | replacement with Mixed Reality Viewer |
limpet.exe | released as open source. Used for TPM access to Azure connectivity |
Phone Companion | Phone page at Settings to sync phones with PC |
Trusted Platform Module management console | Available on the Device Security page of Windows Defender Security Center |
Updates via Windows Embedded Developer Update | Receive updates through the Microsoft Update Catalog |
Features that are no longer in development
The company doesn't mention anything about classic Paint being discontinued as of the Fall version Creators Update in 2017. Paint will be removed, but Microsoft has revealed that it will be moving the app to the Windows Store.
Microsoft reports that the Companion device dynamic lock API has been replaced by Dynamic Lock and the OneSync service is no longer being developed as Outlook app syncing is available.
Probably the most popular application that Microsoft is preparing to replace with the upcoming Snip & Sketch application is Snipping Tool, as mentioned in an earlier post.
You can see all the features that Microsoft will remove on the company Google Docs page.
