Windows 10 comes with smaller updates (quality updates)

Microsoft is continuing to develop Windows 10, and part of the company's efforts seems to be a new form of quality updates that will be introduced with the release of Redstone 5 (October 2018).

In Windows 10, Microsoft made the cumulative updates, including all the fixes that had been released before in a single package. Technically, installing the latest cumulative update updates the system regardless of whether it was last month updated. But in this way the size of the cumulative updates increases every month. Until February 12 2019, Microsoft will also has the delta updates that only include the changes made since the previous cumulative updates, providing updated systems with a smaller package that can be installed quickly.

But to make updates even faster, Microsoft will present a new type of updates by Redstone 5. These updates will be different in three ways: they will be smaller in size, simpler to manage, and redistributable.

The new updates will continue to circulate through Windows Update and Microsoft says the companies will have many other benefits.

Since this new update package may be redistributed, companies that use explicit updates through WSUS, the System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or a third-party management solution that supports the explicit updates will experience tremendous savings in network bandwidth and cache size at distribution points or update servers.

"In addition, devices running the next major update of Windows 10 (Redstone 5) will be 40% more efficient during the update, as there will be no background calculations required to receive explicit updates."

New updates will be packaged as .CAB files but will also be available as Update Standalone Installer (.MSU) from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Windows 10 Redstone 5 is scheduled to be released to the public since October and could be called Windows 10 October 2018 Update. Let's say that Microsoft's actual effort for updates can be very useful to companies, but also to individuals.
But the updates of personal computers they should be tested more, which is happening on company updates (Window 10: The long journey of paid trust).
