One of the most exciting updates released by Microsoft recently is the support Android apps on the Windows 10 desktop, through the “Your Phone” app that comes pre-installed on the operating system.
The company from Redmond originally made this feature available exclusively to Insiders, but is now available to everyone.
Η announcement was made on Twitter by Analy Otero Diaz, Principal Program Manager at Microsoft, who confirmed that you no longer need to be an Insider to try running Android apps on Windows 10.
“The newest #YourPhone feature is rolling out. So some of you may see your phone screen switch to Apps (even if you're not a Windows Insider). Available in select Appliances Android,” it said earlier this week without specifying which devices those are.
Your Phone allows users to pair Android devices with Windows 10, and supports running Android applications in their own windows directly on the Windows 10 desktop. In addition, these Android applications can be pinned to their taskbar. Windows 10.
On the other hand, you should know that these applications only work with certain devices and not all are supported to date. In other words, not all apps available on Google can be used Play Store on a Windows 10 device.
Microsoft, for its part, says there will be significant improvements to support more applications in the coming months. You can try it right away if you have a supported device and the "Your Phone" application is already up to date.
