Microsoft has recently begun to feature as critical two different ones updates for Windows 7 and 8.1 that collects telemetry data.
From technique point of view, both the KB2952664 As well as the KB2976978, for systems running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 respectively, were available for download, but as optional updates. However, both updates from optional were marked as critical by the company, which means they will be installed on all devices through Windows Update.
Similarly, Windows 7 and 8.1 acquire Microsoft telemetry services.
Microsoft states that both updates are "compatibility updates for Windows Update", explaining in a brief description that their purpose is to help collect some diagnostic data.
This updated one version performs diagnostics on Windows systems participating in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program. Diagnostics assess the compatibility status of the Windows ecosystem and help Microsoft ensure application compatibility for all Windows updates.
The strange thing is that telemetry services are enabled on all computers, and not only to those who have subscribed to program Microsoft Windows Improvement experience. Thus telemetry data is collected from all systems.
Let's say that according to the company, the telemetry data that is sent includes application errors and operating system information. Data can help the company improve Windows experience without collecting personal data.
