Information on Update 1 of Windows 8.1 are coming gradually during the day so so far and collectively we can tell you:
Update 1 we expect it in the spring of 2014 and in particular will be officially launched in April at the BUILD developer congress.
The information published in WinSuperSite
Of course, the update will be completely free for all users running Windows 8.1 and since it is going to be delivered via Windows Update, the whole process of installing them should be done with minimal interaction with the user.
They will have in addition to changes in topics security and performance improvements, and a new start button as a perversion Redmond to make it functional system a little more user friendly. It is not yet clear what and how this button will be developed but it will probably be quite minimal.
It seems that the market leads the fashion and not the fashion the market. At Microsoft, every time they update Windows 8, they add something from the start button. Obviously they do not want to "throw their faces" for the failure of their idea to completely remove the button and maybe that is why in each update they add only a part of it.
