In a previous release, we mentioned that Windows 10 will not include any DVD-enabled app, as Microsoft has removed Media Center. So try to play a DVD video from a drive on a computer running Windows 10, you will realize that it is impossible.
Of course, you can always search the Window Store for suitable alternative applications or use another program.
Microsoft promised to release a DVD player in Windows 10, so Windyws DVD Player was released today. But according to the Window Store page it will cost you 15 dollars!
Please note that Microsoft's Windows DVD Player is available for free to those running Window 8.1 with Media Center and did not make a clean installation of Window 10. The application will download for free through the Window Update only when upgrading to Window 10, the installation can read that the computer contains Media Center.
This, of course, can not be done with a Clean Install, since the installation deletes everything.
What if you did not have Media Center and want to download the application?
Hmm, you will have to pay 15 dollars and we recommend that you do not do it just to add an official DVD playback solution to Window.
The application, in addition to costing 15 dollars, lacks the functionality of the Window Media Center.
If you want a DVD player that can do even more, try one of the following. They are free and fairly reliable.
VLC Media Player, SMPlayer ή Kodi
With these applications listed above, you will be able to play all the media files on your computer. Say no to Microsoft because there are better free alternatives. Maybe she thinks she does not have to sell everything, and that it would be good to have such bristles free of charge to customers who have been supporting it for so long!
