The classic Windows Notepad application has found a new one home in the Microsoft Store. Now you can search for it and download it from there.
Microsoft, starting with Windows 10 20H1, seems to want to turn Notepad into a standalone app in the Store. This does not mean that the Notebook will be excluded from installing Windows 10. It will remain connected to the operating system and shipped with it. But Microsoft is changing the way the app will receive them updates of.
Notepad upgrades are no longer associated with the Windows 10 Update program. It will receive standalone updates like any other Store app.
According to company, this change will allow them to quickly respond to issues and feedback about Notepad and deliver new features to users of the app much more immediately.
Notepad is one of those classic Windows applications that rarely gets an update. However, starting with Windows 10 Build 17661, Notepad has received several new ones possibilities and improvements. Now he can handle it large files text without problems, comes with performance improvements and includes the following new options:
- Support for terminating a Unix line (shown in unix text better)
- Search Bing via Notepad
- Zoom in on the text
- An indication of unsaved text.
