Κατά τη διάρκεια του Build 2014, η Microsoft πραγματοποίησε επίδειξη του «Windows in the Car», της πλατφόρμας δηλαδή που θα μεταφέρει τις εφαρμογές του λειτουργικού συστήματος Windows Phone on the dashboard of a car.
Microsoft's core idea is quite similar to C που παρουσίασε recently by Apple and concerns a method of projecting what is on a smartphone device directly onto a multipurpose display on the dashboard of a car.
The Microsoft platform uses the technology σύνδεσης MirrorLink και δανείζεται στοιχεία από το περιβάλλον χρήσης τόσο των desktop όσο και των mobile λειτουργικών της εταιρείας.
In addition, emphasis has also been placed on the use of voice commands, through which actions can be performed without the need for driver intervention on the screen. Maybe this feature performs a modified version of the Cortana digital assistant.
For the time being, it is unclear how soon Windows in the Car will reach commercially available car models. Microsoft staff are already working on real-life tests and are able to perform certain features.
However, neither availability nor car manufacturers are likely to be interested in the new platform. Some companies, such as Citroen, Honda, Toyota and VW, have incorporated into their models the MirrorLink technology, which is also compatible with the Alpine and Pioneer systems.
Finally, it is worth noting that Microsoft has provided technological solutions for creating entertainment systems in cars. As Verge says, Ford, Kia, BMW, Nissan and Fiat have used special versions of Windows to create user environments and systems built into different car models.
