Windows Recovery Environment Enable - Disable

The Windows recovery environment (Windows Recovery Environment or just Win) is a set of troubleshooting tools available in cmd optionsWindows 10 advanced tools. These tools are useful if your operating system has a problem that you cannot fix from the normal Windows 10 environment.

For example, you may need to delete certain files that appear to be used by your operating system. It is a very good alternative to using something DVD or a USB stick.

From before, the Windows Recovery Environment is available in Home, Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions of Windows 10.

The Windows recovery environment includes the following tools:

Automatic Startup Recovery. If the system detects a malfunction in your computer startup, it will take you to Windows RE immediately.
Automatic Repair. The auto-repair tool automates common diagnostics and troubleshooting tasks for your operating system.
System Image Recovery ( Image Recovery).
System Restore.
Command Prompt.
Ability customizing boot settings.
Tools may also include some custom OEM support tools.

So below we will show you how to disable WinRE, for example you want to prevent your family members from using these tools incorrectly.

Open a command prompt window as Administrator (search for cmd, right click on the icon and open as Administrator).
Type or copy-paste the following command: reagentc / info and press Enter to run it.
Check the value next to Windows RE status. It should indicate that it is On or Off

To disable the Windows recovery environment in Windows 10,

Open a command prompt window as Administrator.
Type or copy-paste the following command: reagentc / disable and press Enter to run it.
The command will disable WinRE.

To enable Windows recovery environment in Windows 10 again

Open a command prompt window as Administrator.
Type or copy-paste the following command: reagentc / enable and press Enter to run it.
The command will reset WinRE to Windows 10.
