Xiaomi announced a new operating system called HyperOS. The company has confirmed that it will be available worldwide and will launch with the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series.
HyperOS will gradually replace Xiaomi's older MIUI operating system, which has been around for 13 years.
HyperOS is designed to cover a lot of Xiaomi products. The company reports that the new software it will be able to run across its entire product ecosystem (200 categories), such as smart home devices, cars and more.
“In 2014, when the IoT started to take shape, we started research development. In 2017, research and development of a new system to support all our devices and applications with an integrated system framework officially began. This is our pursuit," Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said in a post on Weibo.
HyperOS “is based on the integration of the deeply evolved Android and the self-developed Vela system, completely rewriting the underlying architecture and preparing a public foundation for thenetwork of Everything (Internet of Everything) for tens of billionsmillions devices and tens of billions connections in the future", Jun explained.
Although the company has announced that HyperOS will come with the Xiaomi 14 series, we don't know what the software will look like and there are no details on whether there are any new features.
