Fine on YouTube: On Wednesday, the Federal Trade Commission announced that it is imposing a fine of $ 170 million on Google following a search on YouTube for violations of child privacy law.
Η The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and the New York Attorney General allege that Google monitored children's video viewing history to serve personalized ads, in violation of the Internet Privacy Act (COPPA).
The $ 170 million fine is COPPA's largest fine to date. The previous one was imposed on TikTok last February for violations of the same law.
The fine also requires Google to make new changes to its business practices, such as requiring creators to tag content intended for children and, of course, to stop collecting data from videos aimed at minors.
It is not clear how YouTube separates content aimed at minors, but on the blog refers that algorithms are used to identify anything related to "children, and toys."
YouTube also states that comments and notifications will no longer be available on child-friendly content. The platform will also stop showing targeted ads on this type of content.
Let's see…
