New data published by NetMarketShare reveal that Windows 10 continues to increase its market share. Only in April functional of Microsoft saw an increase in adoption of more than 1%.
In particular, Windows 10 increased from 44,10% in April to 45,73% in May, and this certainly delighted Microsoft as its operating system is now approaching the 50% milestone.
According to Microsoft statistics, more than 800 million devices are currently running Windows 10. The company from 2015 aimed to install the operating system on 1 billion devices by the end of 2017, but later admitted that achieving this of the target would be needed more than expected.
Meanwhile, the company is trying to get users from Windows 7, the support of which is expected to occur in January 2020.
In May 2019, Windows 7 was at 35,44%, up from 36,43% the previous month. So the increase in market share we mentioned above in Windows 10 probably shows that some of the 7 users have upgraded to Windows 10, although the sales of the new PCs also contribute to the adoption of the latter versionof the operating system.
Windows 8.1 continues to decline every month. In May, they fell from 4,22% to 3,97%.

In May 2019, a new "fixed version" of Windows 10 was also released, officially called the Windows 10 May 2019 Update or 1903 version.
This particular version brings a lot of changes that could make upgrading to Windows 10 much more attractive for Windows 7 users, with the light theme as well as Windows Sandbox, one feature which allows untrusted applications to run in a secure and closed environment.
