Windows 10 begins to dominate the Desktops

New data published by NetMarketShare reveal that the 10 continue to increase their market share. In April alone, Microsoft's operating system saw an increase in adoption of more than 1%.

In particular, Windows 10 increased from 44,10% in April to 45,73% in May, and this certainly delighted Microsoft as its operating system is now approaching the 50% milestone.

According to Microsoft statistics, more than 800 million devices are currently running Windows 10. The company since 2015 had a goal of installing the operating system in 1 devices by the end of 2017, but later admitted that achieving that goal would take longer than expected.

Meanwhile, the company is trying to get users from Windows 7, whose support is expected to happen in January 2020.

In May 2019, Windows 7 was at 35,44%, from 36,43% the previous month. So the increase in market share mentioned above in Windows 10 probably indicates that some of the 7 users have upgraded to Windows 10, although sales of new computers are also helping to adopt the latest version of the operating system.

The .1 continue to decrease every month. In May they fell from 4,22% to 3,97%.

Full statistics (April 2019 and May 2019) are available in the table below.

  Windows 10 Windows 7 macOS 10.14 Windows 8.1
April 2019 44.10% 36.43% 5.23% 4.22%
May 2019 45.73%  35.44%  5.34%  3.97%

In May 2019, a new "fixed version" of Windows 10 was also released, officially called the Windows 10 May 2019 Update or 1903 version.

Αυτή η συγκεκριμένη έκδοση φέρνει πάρα πολλές αλλαγές που θα μπορούσαν να κάνουν την αναβάθμιση σε Windows 10 πολύ πιο ελκυστική για τους χρήστες των Windows 7, με το light theme αλλά και το Windows , a feature that allows untrusted applications to run in a secure and closed environment.
