While the internet was full of supporters of his release Barrett Brown who expressed it through the Twitter and more generally through social networks during duration of the last two years, the court took a different view.
Today Barrett Brown was sentenced to five years and three months imprisonment for impediment to justice, assistance and synergy to threats against an FBI agent.
The charges stem from the Stratfor hack case that took place in 2011. Brown allegedly did not participate in the hack, but copied and pasted a URL that led to data that were stolen from one chatroom to another.
The data included email addresses post officeand credit card numbers.
