A new joint venture between the company constructionof Airbus aircraft and California startup Dedrone has a security system that can spot drones miles away and shoot them down.
The system uses a network of cameras, radar, microphones, and directional scanners developed by Dedrone. The package can detect and target a standard commercial drone seven miles (10 kilometers) away.
Airbus's contribution to the system is a specially designed jammer that disrupts unmanned aircraft communications.
"Small drones have conquered low airspace. "They are being used by criminals for smuggling, espionage and terrorist attacks," said Dedrone CEO Jörg Lamprecht.
“We offer an effective solution to this new threat that will persist safe the lower airspace. Our systems and those of Airbus complement each other perfectly, and combine the timely detection of drones in the near and far fields, with the ability to immediately and automatically launch effective countermeasures.”
The Airbus interference system uses only the frequency used by commercial drones for communication, leaving other frequencies unaffected.
"All over the world, incidents with universally available small unmanned aerial vehicles have revealed a security gap in relation to major events or critical facilities, such as airports," said Thomas Müller, CEO of Airbus DS. Electronics.
At the moment, no price has been announced for the system, but it will probably be quite cheap even for the average buyer who does not want to film him drones in his yard.
