The United Nations recommends that rechargeable lithium-ion batteries are not allowed on airplanes and that their presence in them is totally forbidden.
The reason is the possibility of a fire on the batteries Lithium-ion. Similar bans have been made recently by airlines all over the world, which do not allow the presence of hoverboards within the airplanes because of the batteries they contain.
The relevant United Nations committee says that the possibility of a fire from a chain reaction caused by amode of lithium-ion batteries means that the Appliances they must not be present on airplanes. His recommendations do not include cargo flights, according to The Guardian.
If the United Nations passes such a ban, it is sure to have a big and immediate effect on the travel of the passengers. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) which is responsible for this seat, meets next month to make a final decision on whether the proposal should be put into application.
