It is a digital map with destinations… gastronomic, a tool that connects the production of products with the tradition and historical continuity of a place, with culture and economy.
Πρόκειται για ένα application -ή αλλιώς μια εφαρμογή- που δημιούργησε η Κοινότητα των προγραμματιστών της Google (GDG Thessaloniki), με την υποστήριξη της ΔΕΘ-HELEXPO, που θα παρουσιαστεί στην έκθεση Τροφίμων και Ποτών DETROP in Athens (March 14-16, Helexpo Maroussi Exhibition and Conference Center).
The specific application maps the Greek products and starting from the location leads the user to information about the "gastronomic geography" of the area, the tradition, the culture and everything else that can frame the frame of the "Greek Heritage".
It is an online platform presented in its pilot form at DETROP, with the aim of initially highlighting the exhibitors' products. "For the first time, technology and innovation make a 'dynamic intervention' in a Greek Food and Beverage exhibition, such as DETROP, thus expanding the field of product development and promotion. After all, technology is a sector in which we systematically invest as it is linked to innovation, development and by extension our future", said TIF-HELEXPO managing director Kyriakos Pozrikidis, speaking to APE-MPE.
The application gives - among other things - the possibility to locate, by selecting a product category, all the companies active in the area, modern units as well as traditional ones: farms, mills, breweries, dairies, vineyards, orchards, restaurants, cafes, markets food, grocery stores, hotels and inns. "It is a pioneering idea based on Google Maps APIs and it can be infinitely enriched with data that will be added by all those who wish to contribute," explained the founder of GDG Thessaloniki, Panagiotis Tzinis, to APE-MPE.
“This is Open Linked Data, a method of publishing open structured data so that it is linked together and more useful. It is built on basic web technologies, which do not stop at serving only its reader by clicking heres, but they extend to distributing this data so that it can be read automatically by computers. This allows data from different sources to be linked," he explained.
"Thus, the user is given the opportunity to extract from a search richer and more information related to it," he added, adding that GDG Thessaloniki and its partners are responsible for data validity and security. According to Mr. Ginis, this will lead to a huge database, with the contribution of other bodies (university, educational, government) to be used in the future as a tool of extroversion.
"As a Google developer community, we want to offer the know-how needed to highlight Greek production by helping with the need for growth," said Mr. Tzinis, adding: "This type of mapping will provide much more information that we can use. , such as to see what needs each area has and where it is worth making a relevant investment or not ".
The application created by GDG Thesaloniki is in line with the most up-to-date technological developments that, as developers say, are now online applications. In this way, anyone can access the data, regardless of the software or device available.
