The German AV-TEST Safety Institute conducted a new survey to determine the best antivirus (Antivirus) solutions for the updated version of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709). The results were a bit strange.
Just as happened in the previous tests, the products of Kaspersky and McAfee topped the charts. But VIPRE Security also managed to get the maximum score with 18 points.
All three products were able to grab 6 grades in the protection, performance and usability categories, according to AV-TEST testing.
There are many other products that have reached almost the highest score, including applications security V3 Internet Security by AhnLab, Avira Antivirus Pro, Bitdefender Internet Security and Trend Micro Internet Security.
All of them scored 5,5 grades in one of the three tests mentioned above.
ESET's Internet Security this time caught the worst score, which is a surprise, as the company is currently developing one of the most advanced security solutions in the world.
The application captured only 15 grades: 5,5 for protection, 4 for performance and 5,5 for usability.
On the other hand, the performance of Microsoft Windows Defender seems to be much better than in previous tests, which proves that the company is improving the security application. As you know Windows Defender comes pre-installed on Windows 10 and offers default protection to systems when you are not using a third-party application.
In this new test round, the Windows Defender grabbed 15,5 points, so it surpassed ESET's product with 6 degrees for protection, 5,5 for performance and 4 for usability.
According to detailed test results, Windows Defender blocked 98,9% of zero-day malware attacks in the November survey and 100% in the December tests, causing a 6% slowdown when launching popular websites. For comparison purposes, Kaspersky's security product got similar results on detection zero day malware, but caused a 13% slowdown in browsing.
