Ενώ η εταιρεία ανέφερε πέρυσι ότι ο μέσος χρήστης ξοδεύει περίπου 17 λεπτά στο κοινωνικό , the number has more than doubled since according to the company data it has reached 40 minutes.

Imagine what someone could do in 40 minutes on his life..
Most worrying, however, is that the time of 40 minutes is the average time spent on Facebok, not the largest one. This means that there are too many people spending hours on Facebok.

While online socialization can have its advantages, especially considering how busy life is, it should not replace human interaction.

A study carried out by Larry Rosen, professor of psychology at California State University, showed that wasting time on Facebook and other alternative social media can negatively affect of children and adolescents. It makes them more prone to anxiety, depression and other disorders. In addition, it also affects their score.

Young adults who spend a lot of time on Facebok have a reduced sense of well-being and satisfaction from their lives.

“Facebook appears to provide an invaluable source of information for fulfilling basic human needs for social connection. Despite enhancing well-being, however, these findings suggest that Facebook may undermine well-being," reveals another study conducted by the University of Michigan.

As everything looks, things will probably get worse next time as Facebook plans to bring changes to attract more users and increase their time on the site.

Are we spending a lot of time on Facebook or is this the new "normal" way of life? This is probably something that each of us should decide for himself.
