The hacker from TEKCIT Team winners of BattleHack Athens 2015

The TEKCIT Team will represent Athens at the BattleHack World Final, claiming their prize 100.000 dollars and together the ultimate glory.
Last weekend (30.31.5), teams from all over Greece gathered for a bright XNUM hour hackathon on The Hub Events, in order to create innovative applications with social sensitivity.

The winning team created an application based on a personalized customer facing application, with AngularJS and Ruby on Rails technology, providing an interface for both mobile and web, with the support of various servers.BattleHack

A Raspberry Pi host hosted a NodeJS server, taking the Point of Sales location and managing face recognition of digital photos by users through an OpenCV library. He was linked to the Ruby on Rails application by a Python back-end system.

Both the application itself and the Python backend were supported by the Heroku platform. The Braintree v.zero SDK service was used for payments while SendGrid provided transaction confirmation emails.

The jury consisted of a high-level panel. Its members were John Lunn, Senior; Director, PayPal & Braintree, Giorgos Psistakis, Founder of Blendo and Apirise, Giorgos Kasselakis, Partner of Openfund, and Olga Paraskevopoulou, Co-founder of Stone Soup.

"We are pleased to provide local developers with the opportunity to help their community, showcase their skills and share their ideas, challenging the best hackers in South and Eastern Europe. Among the many improbable ideas and suggestions, the Team TECKIT stood out with the application he presented not only because of the impressive embodiments he used but also because he is an original and authentic product that can help the city of Athens, he said John Lunn.

Unlike many other hackathons, BattleHack creates a truly free environment for developers, where no one intends to discriminate in favor of the companies involved, nor to influence the developers' work in any way.

Team QuizJob won second place, also from a console 500GB for their hack which aims, through a quiz, to match user profiles with potential employers.

In third place was the IoC Team, which won an ADAFRUIT ARDX V1.3 kit, for the application that brought together smart devices that interface with the Internet of (IoT / Internet of Things), which need to upgrade the payment infrastructure in order to allow customers to pay with every possible method.

The BattleHack is a series of international hackathon competitions organized by PayPal and Braintree. Contestants undertake to solve a local coding problem. The winners of the first prize of each contest win a trophy as a trophy, as well as participation in the World Finals, where participants compete for the 100.000 grand prize of thousands of dollars.
