Say what you will about the Brave browser, but it's one of the few programs of browsing today's internet that sees its users doubling, year after year. This time last year Brave doubled its monthly active users to more than 20 million. This year, Brave reports that monthly active user accounts have exceeded 50 million.

Brave, a fairly recent browser, has been reporting usage numbers since 2017. At the time, it had only 1,2 million monthly active users. In 2018 the number quadrupled to 5,9 million monthly active users, and in 2019 it almost doubled to 11,2 million.
Its frantic course did not stop there because in 2020 it doubled its active users again, making them 24,1 million. And for 2021, what a prototype, it reached the reported 50,2 million monthly active users, doubling them for another year.
Brave also revealed in its post several other metrics that show significant growth. But in addition to the profits from ads, the company took big steps this year as it acquired the open search engine Tailcat and released Brave Search as a search product in the second quarter of 2021.
The company also integrated Brave Talk into Browser, in the third quarter of 2021. Brave Talk is a video conferencing solution that provides users with unlimited video calling without sacrificing privacy, according to Brave. The technology is provided by Jitsi and Brave has released it as a free and premium version.
However, we who use Brave, but also other Browser in order to compare their behavior, found that Brave can and does cut ads with good morning, but also cookies notifications with minimal clicks.
Mozilla, which has difficulty retaining users, has more than four times as many monthly active users. If Brave continues to grow, it could overtake Mozilla in 2023, provided monthly active Firefox web browser users remain stable.
