CAINE 9.0 Quantum: CAINE (Computer Aided Investigative Environment) is a GNU / Linux distribution based on Ubuntu.
It is designed by Italian developer Nanni Bassetti and offers a full digital forensic environment. The distribution was updated 25 October 2017 today in 9.0.
The new version is called "Quantum," and is powered by the long-term supported Linux 4.4.0-97 kernel and Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial Xerus).
The operating system CAINE 9.0 Quantum after a year of hard work it comes with UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface), and new tools.
Added / Modified tools RegRipper, VolDiff, SafeCopy, PFF tools, pslistutil, mouseemu. NBTempoX, Osint: Infoga, The Harvester, Tinfoleak regfmount, libregf-utils and many other applications have been installed.
The SSH server was disabled by default (the page manual states how you can turn it back on). SystemBack is now used as system installer.
