CBP (Customs and Border Protection): A new one facial recognition system being tested at several US airports helped catch a fraudster for the first time, at Dulles International airport near Washington, DC
The US Bureau of Customs and Border (CBP from Customs and Border Protection) published one Press release which states that a 26man traveling from Brazil with a French passport was recognized by an airport face recognition mechanism, which came into operation three days before. In the follow-up audit, the suspect was found to be from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Of course, CBP celebrates the event, as 105.000 people arrive from outside the US daily (this number does not include travelers from Mexico and Canada), according to International Trade Administration, quoted by Quartz February of 2017. Illegal entry to the US is reaching large numbers, so the organization needs every help it can have in identifying so many people on a daily basis.

Η CBP ελπίζει ότι η συγκεκριμένη πρακτική δεν θα βοηθήσει μόνο στον εντοπισμό των τρομοκρατών και των απατεώνων που θέλουν να εισέλθουν στις ΗΠΑ, αλλά και θα επιταχύνει τη διέλευση από τους αερολιμενικούς ελέγχους, επιτρέποντας στους ταξιδιώτες να περάσουν από διαδικασίες ασφαλείας χωρίς να διαθέτουν κάρτα επιβίβασης. Η τεχνολογία δοκιμάζεται αυτή τη στιγμή σε 13 αεροδρόμια - σημεία εισόδου και εξόδου και είναι πολύ πιθανό ότι ο αριθμός θα αυξηθεί το επόμενο διάστημα.
Όσον αφορά την προσωπική μας ασφάλεια και το απόρρητο των δεδομένων μας, οι Αμερικάνοι γνωρίζουν πολύ καλά να χρυσώνουν το χάπι. Για όσους γνωρίζουν ή θυμούνται ο όρος "παράπλευρες απώλειες" (collateral damage) αναφέρεται συνήθως σε ανθρώπινες ζωές (αμάχους) και έχει γίνει γνωστός μέσω των πολέμων των ΗΠΑ στο Ιράκ και το Αφγανιστάν.
