In Windows 10, you can assign a picture in a folder. This image will appear on the folder icon instead of the default thumbnail preview of the folder contents.
File Explorer is the default Windows File Management application and can be customized in a variety of ways. As far as the appearance of File Explorer is concerned, the user can customize it in many ways and according to his wishes. By reading files and folders to a point on your hard drive, File explorer adjusts the folder icons so you can see what each folder contains.
If you are not satisfied with this way of displaying the contents of each folder, you can set any image file * .jpg, * .jpeg, * .gif, * .png, * .bmp or * .ico you want, as a picture on the icon any file. See in this article how you can do it.
1. Right-click on a folder and select “Properties” from it context menu. Alternatively, press and hold the ALT key and double-click the folder.
2. Go to the Customize tab. There you will see the group "Folder Images" where below it is the "Select File" button. Click this button.
3. Browse for the image you want to use as your folder image. Windows opens a window for you choiceof image file which by default is the same folder you want to change icon. You can either choose an image from within the folder itself, or you can grab any image from any part of your hard drive you want.
4. Once selected, click the "Open" button to confirm your selection and then press the "Apply" button to apply the change.
5. Re-read with File Explorer this folder to see your change.
To restore the default folder image open the Folder Properties again, go to the "Customize" tab and now select the "Restore Default" button.
