Η Samsung, the world's largest computer chip maker, has warned of a "serious imbalance" in the semiconductor industry, as global shortages cause disruption.
It also mentioned that it might skip the launch of the next smartphone Galaxy Note, to improve his series. There are growing fears that market shortages could slow the post-coronavirus economic recovery.
The EU governments, USA and China are seeking to increase their production.
"There is a serious imbalance in their supply and demand chip in the IT sector worldwide," Samsung co-CEO and mobile head Koh Dong-jin said at a shareholder meeting. "It is difficult to say that the problem of the shortage has been 100% resolved.”
New graphics cards are quite rare, Apple has withdrawn the release of some iPhones and the latest Xbox and PlayStation models run out every time a new stock is announced.
“The manufacturers Semiconductor are working hard to fill gaps in the market,” said Counterpoint Research partner Peter Richardson. “It will take time until the investment becomes more profitable. This means that the shortages for some products may continue for several months, possibly even into 2022.”
