Google has released the new Chrome 68 browser for all supported platforms, Windows, Linux and macOS. The new version is an important update, as it changes the way users are notified of the security of websites using the HTTP protocol.
As of this release, Google Chrome will report all websites that still use HTTP as Not Secure. THE notice will appear in the address bar.
Prior to this release Google's Chrome only displayed pages as insecure when they used HTTP and required the user to provide sensitive information such as passwords accesss, or credit card details for example.
This change is only part of a wider Google plan to make the web safer. The next great version of Chrome browser (69 version), as we reported on previous publication will remove the HTTPS indicator, which means that when you open a σελίδα with the secure HTTPS protocol, you won't see the green padlock.
