Google is currently reportedly trying to add a credit card scanner to the Chrome browser on the iPhone. Of course this could make the payment process on supported sites much easier.
The purpose of the company is to improve auto-fill support, as the scanner will be able to automatically identify small details such as the number of a credit card and fill it in a payment page.
A Publication on the developer's blog shows that this feature will work similar to a barcode scanner.
In addition, Chrome developers report that Google is trying to do a function just like that on Android.
This feature is not currently available in Chrome for iOS. We encourage developers to add autocomplete features to their forms, as described in this article. This will ensure that users can automatically fill out the form with their existing data or save recently entered data. However, camera scanning is only available on Android,
Chrome on Android has a credit card scanner for auto-completion and for Payment Request. To autocomplete, Chrome will have to crawl the input field to add the credit card number.
Google has not yet officially announced this feature, but adding it to the Chrome browser on iOS will obviously be a very welcome update.
Please note that there is currently no official date when we will see the new iOS Chrome feature.
