Combo Breaker: Ένας hacker στην Καλιφόρνια έχει εφεύρει μία machine που την εκτύπωσε (με 3D-εκτυπωτή), η οποία μπορεί να “σπάσει” τον code a rotary combination lock in about 30 seconds.
The hacker has released the print plans freely to the public, along with the open source code of the software that allows the combinations to break.
A few weeks ago, Samy Kamkar revealed a manufacturing flaw in Master Lock combinations that revealed the combination by measuring how the selector and the connector interact. It's a difficult process but with a software, it's getting too easy.
The machine Combo Breaker it uses a stepper motor to turn the Master Lock's combination wheel, an Arduino chip to run the software, and a 3D-printed frame that hugs the lock to ensure stable application of the controller call.
The Combo Breaker takes about five minutes to find the combination, which is disturbing but at the same time very useful if the lock is yours and you have forgotten the combination.
Before you panic, Kamkar tested the device on a cheap version of a Master Lock. THE company however, it mentions that it has made spinning combo locks more durable, so Combo Breaker may not have guaranteed results.
