Covid-19: o WHO will launch a detection application

The WHO intends to issue one contact tracing for which will be offered to those countries that cannot create their own.

Covid-19

Many countries that have been affected by covid-19 and have the to create a monitoring application, they will be able to use the corresponding application that the World Health Organization (WHO) intends to release.

WHO's Bernardo Mariano told interview with Reuters, that they plan to release a Covid-19 symptom assessment application in May. Any government could release a customized version of the application, but the actual release will help those countries that have no relevant application.

The organization is also considering adding contact tracking and has talked to Apple and Google about use of monitoring technology. Legal and privacy issues have prevented the WHO from moving forward with this software until now. Apple and Google have promised to offer a decentralized system that will keep data anonymous, but there are still concerns that companies could misuse the so as to bring them profits later.

Of course even a simple, basic application that would analyze the symptoms could prove vital. A globally available WHO app could better inform those who do not know what to expect from the coronavirus and encourage more people to take precautions.

Detecting contacts can also be vital to society after a lockdown, as it could more closely monitor the spread of the virus and help curb it.
