The first Olympics for "bionic" people are expected to take place October of 2016 in Switzerland. The name of dorganizationit is Cybathlon. As mentioned on its website, it is a championship which is aimed at "pilots" ("pilots", as they are called "), who use advanced assistive devices, including robotic technologies.
Sports include various "bionic" technologies, such as knee, hand, exoskeleton, motorized wheelchairs, electrically activated muscles, and interfaces between brain and computer.

Contestants' devices may include commercially available ones productwhich are provided by companies, but also prototypes developed by research laboratories. There will be two medals for each competition: one for the "pilot" and one for the respective provider devices.
Cybathlon organizes the Swiss NCCR Robotis (National Competence Center of Research in Robotics).

The main objectives of Cybathlon are to promote the development of innovative assistance systems, to strengthen the exchange of scientific information on these technologies, to inform the public about thecalls and the opportunities of this sector, and providing "pilots" with the opportunity to participate in competitions.
More specifically, the six Cybathlon sectors are:
