Those familiar with Debian OS know that it doesn't boot non-free firmware by default,
Now the Debian community is debating three different proposals for how to manage non-free firmware in the future (after the vote in September).
Sentences A and B begin with two identical paragraphs:
We will include the non-free firmware under the “non-free-firmware” section of the Debian repositories and in the official media (installer and live images). Firmware binaries will be enabled by default and the system will determine if they are needed. Where possible we will include ways for users to be able to disable them at boot (boot menu option, kernel command line, etc.).
When running the installer/a live system, we will provide information to the user about the firmware loaded (free or not) and store this information on the target system so users can find it later. The target system will also be able to be configured to use the non-free firmware component by default from archive apt sources.list. “The Debian project is allowed to make media (installer images and live images) that contain non-free packages from the Debian archive and will be available for download along with the free media in a way that the user is informed before downloading.
