DEFT Zero: After more than two years of development the Ubuntu-based DEFT Linux distribution has specialized tools for forensic analysis released the first final version.
The DEFT (Digital Evidence & Forensic Toolkit) distribution is a custom distribution of Ubuntu Linux and offers an easy system which includes excellent hardware detection and support and some of the best open source applications for digital incident response and forensic analysis.
The new version is called DEFT Zero and it comes in version 2017.1. It is much more compact and light, but it brings some useful news characteristics:.
“The DEFT Zero 2.017.1 version ready for download. Finally I can announce that a fixed version of DEFT Zeros is available. The DEFT Zero is a light version specifically designed to perform digital evidence collection. Among the most important features are support for NVMExpress memory (MacBook 2015), eMMC and UEFI.
The new DEFT Zero version requires significantly less RAM space and a CD-ROM or USB drive. It takes about 400 MB, with which it can even run in RAM on low-end computers.conditions hardware. The distribution is based on Lubuntu 14.04.02 LTS.”
