On Monday 22/6/2015 at 12:00 in the ceremony hall of the Administration Building in the Technical University of Zografou will be the presentation of the vehicle "Pyrophorus II. "
The presentation aims at informing the academic community and the public about the effort to develop and demonstrate the energy saving research vehicle "Pyrphoros II" made exclusively by NTUA students and their participation in the European ECO-MARATHON 2015 competition.
2015 Pyrmor
The vehicle of the "Prometheus" team of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens is adaptable every time to the high demands better safetyof the ECO-MARATHON competition. So the project continues to evolve and improve at the same time.
2 Pyrmoros is a building achievement of our team in preparation for the Shell Eco Marathon 2014 competition as it has successfully and fully embraced our expectations.
The team initially innovated among others, as during this year, it designed and manufactured every separate part of the car.
Starting from the engine, an innovative permanent magnet engine design was created, which proved to be profitable and ultimately implemented in the electric motor and power electronics lab.
Having as base therefore, the power needs of our new machine, at the same time the power electronics team designed and implemented the dc/dc converter which optimally collects the provided power of the photovoltaic panel permanently located on the roof of the vehicle, as well as the dc/ac inverter which is responsible for providing the necessary drive power to the designed permanent magnet motor.
In addition, the automatic was also integrated algorithm start to save energy as well as the cruise control so that we can keep it constant speed during the match.
One of the most important additions to our new vehicle is the system
While the time was tight, the engineering subgroup also designed and manufactured the chassis and shell of the car as well as the steering system, keeping in mind the driver's safety and the parallel agility and ergonomics of the vehicle, aiming at the possible weight saving.
