The President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker announced today that the European Commission will allocate free Wi-Fi in the public spaces of the member states of the European Union until 2020.

As part of the EU initiative to improve Europe's digital infrastructure, there are also plans to provide 5G mobile connectivity across Europe from 2025.
Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker further stated that the EU is committed to revising its existing copyright laws in order to better protect the works and rights of artists and creators across thenetwork.
To achieve a higher target WiFi4EU), the EU intends to spend 120 millions euros in the coming years to equip parks, squares, libraries and other public places with free Wi-Fi.
Local authorities will be responsible for any current expenses.
