The Facebook Reported the changes, shared with The Associated Press ahead of their launch Thursday, and that they will initially cover 159 million monthly users of companyin the USA. The changes aim to give members of the social network more options in how they describe themselves, such as androgynous, bi-gender, intersex, gender fluid or transsexual.
"For many people, this change will mean nothing, but for a few it will be very important," said Facebook software technician Brielle Harrison, who worked on the gender transformation project.
The change in Facebook has brought dozens of moving posts to the company's website as it is another important form of recognition of the growing movement for the rights of transsexuals in America and beyond.
