The Facebook announced some time ago that it has developed an application that will allow the residents of the Philippines to have free access to the Internet from their mobile phones. It is now the seventh country to benefit from this initiative, after the countries of Colombia, Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya , India and Zambia.
This initiative aims to help those who cannot afford internet access. And do not think it strange, because statistics show that two thirds of the world still do not have the possibility access.
Facebook is not alone in this crusade. As we previously mentioned you has partnered with several companies related to their internet technology to expand their so-called "Internet for All" campaign, which, as the name suggests, aims to increase the number of people who will have access to Internet services. As for the Philippines, statistics have shown that only 38% of the population can access the Internet.
The application is called Internet.org and will allow users
While some may disagree, Internet access can actually improve the quality of life of people living in the Philippines.
Mark Zuckerberg he wrote on his page στο Facebook ότι "Είμαστε ένα βήμα πιο κοντά για να συνδέσουμε τον κόσμο, καθώς ξεκινήσαμε σήμερα το Internet.org στις Φιλιππίνες." Μαζί με το μήνυμά του μοίρασε και μία φωτογραφία της Jaime, μίας οδηγού στην Μανίλα να uses Facebook and the internet to contact her loved ones who have moved to Dubai.
However, the idea was not particularly welcomed by everyone. There are people who do not praise this initiative on the grounds that it is an additional way for sponsors to earn more money than ads.
