Facebook Stories Archive: Facebook released the Stories feature by copying Snapchat. But Facebook Stories aren't nearly as popular as Snapchat.
Facebook Stories exist on all smartphones and you can merge photos and videos to create short stories which are supposed to disappear after 24 hours.
If you post frequently on Facebook Stories, it is assumed that your post will not be displayed after 24 hours. But as you might know a copy is stored in your account. No one sees it but there is.
It is not automatically deleted after the 24 hours promised by Facebook and this happens under the guise of a feature called Story archive. If you do not want to have your Facebook stories forever, you will need to disable the feature from the social network.
How; Open the Facebook app on your mobile and you will see Stories at the top. You can browse through the available stories, but if you look at the top right of the slider, you'll see an option called 'Your Archive'.
Tap on it and you will see a screen containing a link to the Story File Settings. If you do not see the screen above, tap the gear on the top right of the image. You will see that there is only one setting, with the option "Save to file".
Disable it and Facebook will no longer store copies of your stories in your account.
Once you disable the Facebook Stories feature, the screen will enable you to turn it on again. Yes, Facebook again gives you the opportunity to collect more data.
Η specific operation, seems to be superfluous for most but it is enabled by default.
Your story archive is visible only to you and of course to Facebook. Your friends can't see. The file is not stored on your device and thus does not take up space. But it is stored online (in servers of Facebook). So since only you can see it if you don't care you can disable the feature. Why should Facebook see it?
