Those who usest Firefox to visit YouTube you may have noticed that the site limits video resolutions.
In particular, any video resolution higher than 720p is not available. Other resolutions are available without any problem, so they can be viewed without any problems, videos on 144p, 240p or 480p.
It doesn't really matter if you use Adobe Flash Player to watch videos or if YouTube's HTML5 video player is used: the options are limited, usually 360p and 720p, and all other resolutions appear to be absent from the selection menu.
This is a problem for someone who wants to watch a video and is forced to change their browser to see YouTube videos on higher resolutions. Microsoft's Chrome and Internet Explorer have no limitations on video analytics.
What can I do
What many users of Firefox do not know is that it is possible to set up the browser to show all the analyzes offered by YouTube.
Right now, the feature should be configured, but soon it will no longer be needed, as the Mozilla Foundation will allow it by default for all users.
- Go to: about: config and press enter.
- Confirm that you will be careful when the window appears.
- Search for the term: media.mediasource.enabled. THE price defaults to: false.
- Double-click on name of the value and set it to true. Enable.
- You may need to restart your browser.
If you now visit YouTube and click on icon with a gear that displays video quality, you'll see all available video resolutions displayed, no problem
Note: If you have Adobe Flash installed, you may need to change to the HTML5 player on YouTube. To do this, you can go to the address https://www.youtube.com/html5 and click on "Request the HMTL5 player."
From the Firefox 33 version, and then the button no longer appears, as Mozilla will use HTML5 by default instead of the Adobe Flash currently using it.
