iOS 7: bring back the full sender's name to text messages

After the release of iOS 7, the sender's full name stopped appearing in text messages (SMS). If you have a lot of people with the same name in your contacts, this could be a serious one . But there is a simple setting that can add a small box to be sure of the sender.

Of course you can not have the full name as it appeared in older iOS but you will be able to add the initial of the surname or first name, depending on your choice. Follow these steps:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Click Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.
  • Under Contacts, click Short Name.
  • At that will open choose how you want to display the name, as in the photo below
