How about a drive that can store 360TB and keep it forever? Researchers from University of Southampton have created a five-dimensional glass disc that is not only huge possibilities αποθήκευση, αλλά μπορεί και να κρατήσει όλα τα περιεχόμενα του ασφαλή για τουλάχιστον 13.800 millions years. 
The data which will be stored on the disk, according to the researchers, can be kept intact even in the most extreme conditions, such as, say, the end of humanity.
Essentially, the whole innovation is in the way the content is written to the disk. Traditional discs, CDs or DVDs store data by writing the information on a glass surface.
What researchers have done is to write the data not on the glass but in the glass.
So using glass nanostructures, a very small five-dimensional disk can store at least 360TB (terabytes) of data for 13.8 billion years. If you think it is impressive, read below….
Investigators support that such a disc can withstand the most extreme conditions. For example, it can survive temperatures up to 1000 degrees Celsius. According to scientists, even if the ambient temperature is at 190 degrees Celsius, the disk has no problem keeping all the data in excellent condition for nearly 14 billion years.
